I'm reading this book for the second time and I think it's a really good and informative book for people who want to know what femininity is according to God's design. Michelle McKinney Hammond is a Christian and gives a Christian perspective, backing it up with scriptures and stories from the Bible. Men and women are very different, so we can't expect to act the same way and get the kind of results we're looking for...Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus told us that too...we have different means of communicating and getting what we need, and they balance each other out. But even though we are different, we are equal and she makes that point from the very beginning. The book points out many different Godly women in the Bible (including female leaders) and how they used their femininity to get what they wanted without acting butch or using manly tactics to compete with the men around them. She also points out women in the Bible who abused their femininity or who acted in a way contrary to their femininity and shows how they lost respect from men, explains what went wrong and why. But all in all, everything in this book emphasizes the power that we have as women to affect change in every area of our lives. It's not a pushover book saying that women are weak and should sit down... In fact, she shows us that we have more power than we think we do, how we do have a voice, how we can be decision makers, how we can still do and accomplish everything a man does without being intimidating and macho. She shows that the more we try to gain respect using the same tactics that men use, we just make them resist us even more and the cycle continues.

So I think if you want to stop that cycle in your own life and become the woman that God created you to be (respected, equal, powerful, influential, loved and even more attractive than you already are) then you should read this book and ask God to help you understand His word because what she says comes from right out of the Bible.

What a woman?

This is an insightful read that will challenge woman to exam their relationship with God, men and themselves. With skill, the author uses biblical scriptures to demonstrate the correlation between our behavior (men and women), from " In the beginning God created......." to how those innate behaviors play out in our relationships with one another today. Using real-life, modern day examples, the author is clear and concise. We know exactly where she stands as it relates to her role as a women and her thoughts on the feminist movement.

For all of the "Independent Women" out there, single or married, with children or childless, this is a great opportunity to put aside titles and credentials for a moment and reflect on the type of women/mate/sister/wife/mother/friend you are and/or aspire to be. In the end, it's up to us to define ourselves.

Although I didn't agree with all of her points, this book will challenge you to think and leave an impression you, whether its admiration in agreement or disgust in disagreement. If a book can evoke a feeling or thought, once the reader has put it down...the author has done their job. If you're open minded, this is a must read.

Buyer beware if you do not agree with God's stance when it comes to marriage and biblical principle you will not agree with Michelle's stance on this either, definately something to consider when buying this book.

Yet I must say I do have mixed feelings about this book, Michelle has a way of using the bible and marrying it to today's time in a very down to earth kinda way that every reader can relate to and I love that. However in this as with other books by her I feel she puts a weight on the shoulders of women that aren't truly for us to bare. For instance women are called to be a help to their husband which will cause them to be better men it isn't the woman's job to MAKE them men. I recongize her goal to call women to live in holiness and relationships as God intended however I'm not in agreeace with her translation of certain things. For instance there is a point in the book where she says men who beat their women are doing so out of frustration for women stepping into the male role (not exact wording). However for all the God fearing women who happily allow her man to wear the pants in her household and still get beat down or mistreated in any way, that statement is a slap in her face no pun intended.

Secondly her stance on a man cheating because the woman isn't fulfilling her role again not quite ministering to the woman who was cheated on and did all the right things in her marriage. There were basic points in these two statements that one should definately take heed to, however it's as if she is telling the reader get everything right with you and everything will be right with your man and that's just not true. Men have a responsibility as well.

Yet I must say, the things that I agree with in the book was worth the buy and I'd buy it again even with knowing these comments were in here. I just strongly recommend chewing the meat and spittin the bone as far as you possibly can!!!

About the Author

Adrian Graham Streather was born on December 25, 1958. Upon leaving school he joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1975, where he trained as a Scientific Instrument Maker and gained additional qualifications in the electronics field. Adrian is the author of a number of Porsche books published with Veloce, including several in their Essential Buyer's Guide Series.

A mile wide but a foot deep and errors aplenty.

While thoroughly comprehensive covering most nuances of the 997, there are errors all over this book. Measurement tables, images, image captions, typos... almost every other page has some sort of error. For example, the image attached to this review shows a page where the width is incorrect for the GTS model (it is identical to the C4/S/Turbo at 1852mm) and the image caption states the image is of a 997.2 when in fact the image is of a 991.1. And this is BASIC stuff! There is not one color image in the entire book. Moreover, colors are referred to in image captions but without a colored image the caption is useless. Explanations that could be easy to understand with an accompanying image are absent one. Vice versa, there are images with little or no explanation or context. It's actually very frustrating to read this because it seems so much effort was put forth in gathering the information. It's unfortunate because there is a wealth of knowledge presented. It is simply organized poorly and tragically edited. This book is not worth buying IMO.

Not worth it

A weird book, not really sure where to place it. Not a real wrenching guide -- Wayne Dempsey's books are superb for that, and even the Bentley manual for the 996 is better than this book -- and not really a nicely illustrated coffee table book. Most info in it is available on the internet, in various forums, etc. I regret having spent $100 on it.
