Like The Oatmeal, but for Theology Nerds.

In his first collection of comics from his website, Adam4d chose an eclectic collection of his work. Some of it is clearly earlier – the art is less detailed, and tends to be more issue based – while some looks and works like some of his more recent work – having more detailed characters acting out quotes from historical figures, pastors and authors or providing more in-depth commentary on Christian issues. While the art style varies, the theme is the same: modern Christianity is under the microscope. But it never comes across as intending to harm.

Some use satire simply as an attack, while others make a point. (Think political cartoons). Adam4d’s work is primarily a way of teaching. Even those who may feel attacked have to admit that it wasn’t the artist who did the attacking; it is the Word, quoted faithfully in context, or quotes from theological and intellectual greats from history that convicts.

If there was a letdown it was in how short the book was. I understand that with full color it would have to be shorter to be affordable, but, like many fans of his webcomic, I have my favorites that I’d have liked to see included. Some of his newer stuff is really top notch as well. But that’s what the second collection if for, right?

With religious work there can be – rightly so – concerns about orthodox views. Nothing I’ve read so far would not be considered orthodox. While I don’t know the author, his work strikes me as tending to Reformed, if any single set of doctrinal beliefs, without any controversial or secondary issues to cause readers of different backgrounds to stumble. If you are an orthodox Christian you will find a lot to agree with here. Beware, though, should you hold to unorthodox beliefs as they will come under the scrutiny of the Word.

I haven’t had as much fun reading about theologians, laughing at (and being rebuked for) so-called Christian behavior, or learning complex theological arguments in clear, deep ways since I read Jon Acuff’s Stuff Christians Like a few years back. Hilarious, poignant, needed. This webcomic and book are part satire, part teaching, and part rebuke and 100% required reading.

I highly recommend it! .

Pros:
✅ Entertaining.
✅ Holy.
✅ Humorous.
✅ Irreverent.
✅ Profound.

Cons:
My coffee table has what appears to be a coffee stain that has grown overnight. Strangely enough it's the precise size of this book. I have determined that while my coffee table is ruined, God in His providence has ordained this book to forever remain front and center in my living room, covering said stain. I believe this will be a sermon illustration someday.

Absolutely wonderful!: A humorous, relevant, concise, and insightful collection which testifies compellingly of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the necessity of sound doctrine. I'd "drop" a copy everywhere I go, if it were financially feasible to do so: For now, just the one, though.

Love Kye

This isn't my first Emma Hart book, but this is the only book in the series that I have read. Don't let that deter you though. Even though having the background of the other brothers and then finding their HEA's would have been nice, you don't need it. Ms. Hart did a great job introducing the other characters without feeling completely lost. Storyline was predictable, but that's okay, I expected it to be after reading reviews and descriptions on the other three books in this series.

I absolutely loved the way this brought me back to all the feels that come with your finding your one, your other half, the one one you can't live without. You know that funny flutter you got when you met your true love, the way your breath hitched when he first kissed you? Yeah well I don't..definitely didn't have that..hehe!! But that's why I read. Right, I live vicariously through the characters the authors have become so aquatinted with in their writing.

Mix one incredibly sexy guitar player from one of the hottest boy rock bands and a girl whose father was a Rock God that made her despise any male in that industry and you get Kye Burke and Chelsey Young.

Kye is the sensitive one of the group the last of the kids to leave his parents nest. A momma's boy, well maybe until he decides to help decorate the family Christmas tree! He is a lover and a fighter..he knows what he wants and he will do whatever it takes to get her. He actually was so good, I cried a few times..he's that good!!

Chelsey I did want to slap around a little, I'm not gonna lie. She comes off as a basket case and a bitch. Is she? Yes and no. She has a good reason to be as guarded as she is. Her father was not exactly the best role model. She was forced to go on the road with him after her mom passed away her senior year and she saw way more than any child should witness of their father. The tour bus was a turnstile for groupies in and out her father's bed. Chels is quick to believe that that is the norm for everyone in that industry. That time she spent on the road with her dad caused her some major insecurities and rather large trust issues.

What she doesn't count on is Kye and how determined he is to prove to her that he is NOTHING like her father. The chase is on....

KYE - my favorite Burke of them all !! I LOVE MILA !!!!!!

Tate's book may have been my fave book of the series being that we got Dirty B on tour BUT Kye is definitely my favorite of the 4 brothers. He is genuine and funny , easy to be around and just all around hot and amazing !! Chels was a bit annoying with her slightly angsty attempts at keeping Kye away but she grew on me and I was happy with their ending and I did enjoy their journey. I mean Kye hot and drunk , Kye playing the hero in the storm and Kye just giving himself to Chels - ALL AMAZING things to read. Panty melting that boy !!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Mila... LOL ok yes I say it in every review, why stop now. This little girl is right at the top of my list of fave things about the series. Her words , her hair , her attitude. The only thing I hate is that all the stories took place in a small amount of time so we didn't get to see her grow up too much. I mean her toddler ways are adorable but I do want to see her grow into a little lady...maybe a novella , maybe a story of her :) PLEASE

Chels knows the Burke bros and their family well. Jessie is one of her besties and they all come from a small town so it is what it is. Chels has always been difficult so it is no surprise that after their amazing yet drunken night she tries her hardest to stay away from Kye. Seriously who can resist his charm. Burke bros go big or go home so there is no way Kye is going to back down from proving Chels wrong. She knows the game , her dad is a rockstar, he left her as a child, and now although he tries to make up for it, he just ends up throwing her in the spotlight with his every move. She is tainted by her father's actions and sadly she may miss out on the chance of true love Burke Bros style. The drunken confessions , the raw honesty and the game of chase leave us with some panty melting scenes and some super funny scenes , of course we also get our Mila moments !!

With the band heading back west to record their new album the clock is ticking for Kye to win Chels over or let it go. Nobody is happy about the boys leaving and keeping that in mind there are some things in the works. With Chels fighting Kye right down to the very last minute I didn't know what to expect. I enjoyed the ending , loved the surprise and of course loved the New Year's Eve glimpse of the other couples. I am feeling a novella coming on - right - we totally could do with a novella after that last scene !!

Fab read - I really enjoyed it

This was my first Emma Hart read though I doubt it'll be my last. While this is the fourth book in this series it can totally be read as a standalone and the author does a great job of backfilling essential bits of the previous stories. I'm intrigued enough by the other characters to want to check out the previous books.

I really warmed to Kye Burke from the outset. He was sexy, sweet, witty and so caring and protective of Chelsey despite the fact that she regularly blows hot and cold on him. I loved how he didn't give up on her even when she was downright nasty to him. That's not to say that he was a walkover - because he most definitely wasn't. He challenged her and ultimately made her face up to things. Kye is easily the best thing about this book.

Chelsey was such a refreshing female lead. She was an out and out bitch, and I don't just mean a snarky, sassy type. She was MEAN, but I actually loved it, and she gave me some great laugh-out-loud moments. And it's not all a facade to hide her true persona though that was partly the case, but she does have an inherent mean streak.

I really enjoyed Emma's writing style, and she writes superb, sharp, humorous dialogue. All characters were solidly developed, even the secondary characters, and the romance was steamy without being too hot. The book flowed at a nice pace and there weren't any slow, repetitive, or overly descriptive parts. A nice even read. The plot is very predictable though but it wasn't a major issue as I think that's pretty much par for the course with these types of books.

In summary, this was a fab read and I'd highly recommend it to fans of NA/Contemp women's fiction.

It's a very short, fast, fun way to remember all 44 presidents. It also adds additional info about different presidents not just the order they held office. Right after I was done reading I could write down all presidents in order and able to answer trivia questions about each. I'm a big fan of Kevin Horsley's methods
