About the Author

Michael T. Sheaff is a Consultant Histocytopathologist at Barts Health NHS Trust and has been the lead clinician for cytology for over 10 years. He is also an honorary Professor in Diagnostic Pathology with Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. In addition to reporting the general gynecological and non-gynecological cytology work he has developed specialist interests in the fields of skin, colposcopy, renal and thoracic pathology (the latter including a particular interest in mesothelioma).

Naveena Singh is a Consultant Histo- and Cytopathologist at Barts Health NHS Trust with specialist interests in gynecological histopathology and cytology. In addition to routine cytology, gynecological and non-gynecological, she is one of a team of consultants who offer a rapid diagnostic service for symptomatic and screen-detected breast lesions at 'one-stop' clinics.

Ticking - a great book for kids who are relocating to Switzerland from USA

I bought this for my 1st grader to help with a move we are making from US to Switzerland. It's a great read and filled with great facts. She loved the pictures and the comics. I highly recommend it for families who are relocating to Switzerland.

What an enjoyable read, also for adults.

I think I have never seen a more enjoyable way to introduce people to a country's cultural peculiarities. This is definitely a book for both kids and for adults with a certain amount of curiosity and humor still left from their childhood. ;) The book covers such a wide array of topics that it can't, of course, be complete. But there are lots of references to web sites in the back for those who want to know more about a particular topic. The concept is based on a mix of photos, short texts and, most importantly some comics highlighting some topics. The fact that Switzerland is highly multilingual is well covered, including the fact that Swiss German differs considerably from written German. Being Swiss myself, I have only got to know this book because my son bought it for his US-born daughter. And it is safe to say that we all love it, across three generations.

Egan Bailey, the Eastgate Clock, and the real meaning of `wealth'

British author Evelyn Winters (with illustrator Rizal Nugroho who creates a splendid cover for this book) offers a brief but satisfying little story that makes a fine bedtime tale for children as well as inserting a bit of reality history and morals study underneath.

Winters opens her story with the flavor that spills over the short pages that follow: `Once upon a time, many years ago when clocks ticked much louder, there lived a talented clockmaker in an enchanted walled city in the northwest of England. The elf-like man was a master craftsman with an exceptional gift. He had served many a crowned head, but his latest assignment was to be his greatest. Egan Bagley was to create one of the most magnificent clocks the country had ever set eyes on.'
Egan Bagley for all his privacy is visited by an old gypsy who sells him a bewitched bead that seems to promise the gift of stopping time, giving him the opportunity to win at horse race betting. Egan Bagley is so successful in putting his ability to stop time to use that he becomes enormously wealthy and famous, but his trick with stopping time doesn't apply to his own aging an das a wither old man he feels guilt and begins giving all this riches from his success at making the clock (and the added punch of the bewitched bead) and I time he becomes the right kind of celebrity.

Evelyn Winters informs us that the story is actually based on the Eastgate Clock in Chester, UK and that little tidbit of information makes the story even more charming. This is a very fine little book that is highly recommended. Grady Harp, July 14

Charming and clever – highly recommended.

This is a delightful fairy tale told in the classical style (Once upon a time…) and replete with much loved characters and themes: a humble clockmaker, a rich and powerful lord, an old woman with magic powers, from rags and riches to rags again, learning important lessons on the way. Beautifully told, with lots of deft touches in the language, there are also one or two jokes for adult readers to smile at along the way! It is perfect for reading to your little one at bedtime; and if you live anywhere near Chester it has the added advantage that you can take her / him to stare at the clock which gave rise to the tale.
Charming and clever – highly recommended.

This is a delightful story about a little clockmaker who makes a magnificent clock for Chester. It is a lovely story for young and old alike. I would read this as a bedtime story to my children if they were young. I would recommend this story to all my friends.

The Holy Grail of Self-Help Books

This may not be the only self-help book you ever need. But if you're like me and you've accumulated a lot of books over the years, but haven't managed to stick with the program, this is it! Getting results is not exactly as easy as reading a book. It's about as easy as reading a book and making a sandwich. Without needing discipline or faith or changing beliefs, I have already become more aware of how being in certain positions or making certain motions will cause strain resulting in aches and pains later. I can also count on being able to relax whenever I want and fall asleep when I need to.
It's hard to go into a great deal of detail about what's in the book because what you get out of it will be very personal. I can say that it's been an experience that I will never forget. There is a great deal more to be gained, I'm sure, as one reads the book/does the exercises (They're the same thing! You won't fall into the trap of reading the book and procrastinating on doing the exercises! ) but they're fun, pleasurable and produce undeniable results every time. There's no fear for letting this one sit on the shelf after getting frustrated or jaded. I may even go back through my library and see if I find something that's a bit more useful with my newfound perspective. If you're of a mystical bent, this is an excellent way to achieve an altered state that can serve as a launching pad for your magical journey. For the scientific type, there is no "spoon-bending" or anything else to be skeptical about. Only time-tested, well-researched method that you can test and evaluate for yourself. For the Leary/Wilson types, this is the most effective tool for getting practical benefits from fifth-circuit activation that I've ever come across. And believe me, I've looked, dude.
Bottom line, I highly reccomend it for anyone who posesses a human nervous system.

Cheap thrills and an invitation to Eastern religions

Save your money. Other than an invitation to try eastern religions, I found this book to be a complete waste of time. Yup, if you think about relaxing a part of your body, it'll relax. Deep breathing will relax you, and reading about these things will suggest that you do them.
