Wonderful

This was my first Constance O'Banyon novel, and I absolutely loved it! Arriane and Warrick are perfect for each other, and they go through so many obstacles that test their relationship. I loved it that she was so brave and innocent, trying to bring light to the dark Warrick. Unforgettable story! I recommend Song of the Nightengale and Desert Song, but this one was the best of the three.

My Review: Highland Love Song was my first book by this author and after finishing it I'm happy to say not my last. Written in 1993, HLS is very much an old school "bodice ripper". Meaning the storyline is fairly interwoven with scandals, high drama, kidnapping, family saga and an emotionally charged storyline. Be forewarned, this story is all drama and no "light" moments, though still quite good.
Highland Love Song is actually book two in the DeWinter Saga, though I read it without knowing of the first and still enjoyed the book. I'll now go back and read Arrian's parents story in [...]. Arrian and Warrick were good lead characters-the heroine was not too flighty, and the hero, while brooding and dark, was no brute.
Miss O'Banyon's forte seems in her writing fleshed out secondary characters, and HLS was full of great ones. The best were MacTavish, Arrian's Aunt Mary, and her brother Michael-who is the hero in book three in the series, [...]

The love scenes were so so and few and did detract from the storyline-if they were better this would have been at least a four star book. If you enjoy connected family sagas like Lindsey's Mallory's or Laurens Cynster's, then I think you'll enjoy this book.

Must Read for Historical Romance Buffs!!

What a pleasant read! Left me feeling good and with a smile on my face and here it is almost 4 am! This book has thoroughly realized characters who engage the imagination. Love, hate, betrayal, clan war, and greed all mesh in this one book. There are moments when I could actually close my eyes, after reading a description of the highland view, and feel like I was there. This author had me at page one and didn't let me go. This book wasn't all about sex, while it was still steamy, it was high in its story line. Can't read enough of these feel good novels, guess I'm a bit of a wanton myself! Thank you Ms. O'Banyon for a deliciously romantic journey!

Loved It!

We used this text for my Cultural Diversity course and I decided to keep it when the course ended. The articles are brief, interesting, and to the point. I found the one by Michael Moore really gave insight to his documentary experiences and why his life went the way that it did. I would have liked to see some information on weight discrimination, but this book really does what it should and makes some very important points.

Accurate, concise and definitive debunking of the claims of Iranian nuclear danger--an important book

Peter Oborne and David Morrison have provided an invaluable public service in this book. The book is factual from beginning to end, and has the virtue of brevity. Anyone reading it will be well informed about the current standoff between the European great powers plus the United States and Iran on the Iranian nuclear issue. Oborne and Morrison correctly identify the concern over Iran's nuclear program as essentially propagandistic and without merit. They demonstrate definitively that there is no evidence whatever that Iran has a nuclear weapons program, and claims that it does are apparently designed to gin up support for attacks on the Iranian government.

The truth about the Iranian nuclear program and why it took so long for the West to strike a deal with Tehran

Mr Oborne's pure strategic logic shines through this small but very informative book. The years that followed after this book was published confirmed in the most outstanding way the quality of the arguments presented. The recent deal between the 5+1 team of powers and Iran regarding the last's nuclear program is based on the solid reasoning that is analysed in this book. The author builds his arguments on a solid base, giving valuable information on what the NPT Treaty is all about, what it entails, which powers are exempt and why, which other powers are not signatories and why none bothers to put pressure on them to follow the path of nuclear disarmament etc. It's also very clear why it took the West more than 12 years to reach an agreement despite the fact that Iran made brave concessions along the way and accepted most of the terms that the US demanded. It's obvious that the real problem with Iran is NOT its nuclear program, neither the verification terms, but the very fact that the Iranians who are a clever people, demographically vibrant, with ancient culture, are on the rise and tend to become the hegemons of the greater Middle East area. The crucial question now is what Israel is going to do. Is it willing to live with an ascedant and mighty Iran, or will it strike militarily in the near future knowing fully well that in this case the US can not remain idle?

Very informative!

This book contains great insight into Hydroponics Gardening. It clearly explains what a hydroponic system is, how it works and what its benefits are. You'll be guided through the proper set-up and maintenance. It also touches on the different types of hydroponic system and how they are being set-up, one example is the water culture system which is the easiest to set up and the most commonly used system because it is cheaper and easier to maintain. In this book you'll also learn how to make your own nutrient solutions and the specific growing media you can use your hydroponics system. There are a lot of important facts on hydroponics discussed in this book that provide me with adequate knowledge on the system, that somehow inspired me to set up my very own Hydroponics Garden.

Seriously Important and Informative Information

I was first turned on to hydroponics on a trip to Disney World this year. On the ride Living with the Land in EPCOT, they show you first hand how fruits and vegetables are grown without soil. The gentle misting of water not only keeps the plant alive, it bears HUGE fruits and Veggies. I saw this book and really wanted to learn more and see if it was possible to do the same in my home. Excellent information, great writing, easy to follow along for any level.

For beginners or people who has never heard about hydroponics is an excellent book. You will finish the book knowing a lot about the topic, but if you are a person, who is searching for something more specific and detailed, search another book. The only think I did like was the instructions, there are too simple. But for the rest really nice.

About the Author

Judi Garman is one of the most successful coaches in college softball history, having retired as the nation’s winningest coach in 2000 after coaching for 28 seasons and earning a career record of 1124-416-4(.727) and 7 national championships as a player and coach.

Garman was a Canadian all-star outfielder and member of two Canadian national championship teams. Garman began her coaching career at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California, and won four consecutive national junior college championships from 1975 to 1978. She then established the softball program at California State University at Fullerton in 1980. She built it into one of the most successful softball programs in the United States, winning the Women’s College World Series Championship in 1986 following two runner-up and three third-place finishes. From 2000 to 2002, Garman coached the Italian National Team to a European Championship and a fifth-place finish at the 2002 ISF World Championship.

Garman served as president of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) from 1990 to 1991 and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1993. She resides in Redstone (Aspen), Colorado, and Palm Desert, California.

Michelle Gromacki is the head coach of Cal State Fullerton softball, one of the most prestigious programs in the nation. Under Gromacki’s guidance, the Titans have staked their claim to five Big West Conference championships, including four consecutive conference titles from 2000 to 2003. In 2006,Gromacki was named Regional Coach of the year.

Gromacki served as an assistant coach for the U.S. national team from 2001 to 2004. More recently, she served as assistant coach of the U.S. women’s national team at the 2010 ISF World Championship in Venezuela.

Michelle Gromacki played for Cal State Fullerton and was the catcher on the 1996 national championship team. She continued her playing career with the Redding Rebels and took home three national championship titles in women’s major fastpitch. She was also on the U.S. national team for 10 years. She competed in many international tournaments and won gold medals in all of them.

Gromacki is one of the NFCA college coaches instructors and also conducts speaking engagements all over the world. She resides in Huntington Beach, California.

The best yet

Last year I volunteered to coach my daughter's senior travel softball team.
With travel softball big business and highly competitive here in Long Island (whatever happened to just having fun?) I knew that I would need some expert assistance.
Prior to this I had only coached young kids--3rd and 4th graders--and wanted to obtain some information geared to the high school level.
I bought/glanced through quite a few books and was never really satisfied until finding this one.
Perhaps my mind was already geared to the high school senior level, so I was able to grasp both the basic and advanced methods advocated in this book.
I really liked the sneaky offensive and defensive methods thrown in as well as how to play both the short and long game.
This book really breaks down the general principles, basic guide lines of application and fundamental drills needed to teach all aspects of competitive softball.
It is very well written and has tons of photos/line drawings to illustrate the techniques and drills.
I was so impressed with this book that I tracked down and bought the companion DVD that was produced in 2005.
Which is also a winner, BTW.
To be blunt both the book and the DVD do a great job of making the simple even simpler and the complex understandable.
I rate this book as a must have for senior and travel softball--younger level coaches may find the vast material a bit over whelming at first.
I am sure the author has a ton of additional insights into the game and I would really like to see an advanced sequel--geared to the college coach--in the near future.

This book is unreal in the details that are given for every aspect of the game. It breaks down every position and every situation and makes them easy to understand. The drills and descriptions (along with all of the great pictures) make this a priceless coaches aid.

When her father assures her, "I will fight MONSTERS for you," she manages to fall asleep. That night, Martina dreams of a furry, pink monster named Anitram, who lives a life that mirrors her own. Anitram is afraid of humans and her father promises to fight her fears for her. As they sleep, a hole magically opens between the two upside-down worlds. Martina and Anitram let their arms slip over the edge of the bed, and they join hands. With this act of friendship, the girl and the little monster overcome their fear of the unknown and discover how much they have in common. The gentle cartoon illustrations feature dark outlines and a soft blue and pink bedtime palette. Martina, in her striped pajamas and pigtails, is a darling character, and Anitram is cute and cuddly. About the Author
Santi Balmes is a writer, singer, and songwriter. He has his own band that plays Spanish pop songs. He loves books and this is his first published title. He wrote this book to explain to his own daughters that they shouldn't fear people or things just because they are different.

Lyona is a video clip director and graphic designer. She has a degree in Film Studies and she has directed video clips for several Spanish and Mexican artists. She started publishing her drawings and illustrations on her blog. I Will Fight Monsters for You is her first book.

The reader will see the support and love of their parents as the child and monster deal with their fears.

Santi Balmes has written a delightful bedtime story about a little girl named Martina who is afraid to sleep because she believes there are monsters living under her bed. There is also a little monster named Anitram who is afraid to sleep because she is afraid there are humans under her bed.

The reader will see the support and love of their parents as the child and monster deal with their fears. You will also see the growth in their understanding that they will be fine in their beds . The ending is sweet where their hands meet while sleeping.
